LCorporate philanthropy has all too often become an opportunistic smokescreen. Polluting brands that donate minuscule fractions of their profits to opaque investment funds or plant monocultures of unsuitable trees thousands of kilometers away to buy themselves a cheap clear conscience. At Kanten, we wanted to build a model of direct and uncompromising patronage, based on concrete action on the ground and the uncompromising protection of all living things.
The principle behind our approach is crystal clear: 1% of the total amount of each order A portion of every purchase made on our website or in our workshop is donated in equal parts to two iconic NGOs that share our culture of resistance and independence: Sea Shepherd France and Canopée Forêts Vivantes.
Sea Shepherd France: Defending Marine Sanctuaries Without Compromise
The oceans cover more than 70% of the Earth's surface and produce half of the oxygen we breathe. Yet today, they are under devastating attack from industrial overfishing, nighttime poaching, and widespread plastic pollution.
Based on the principle of nonviolent direct action, Sea Shepherd's French chapter, chaired by Lamya Essemlali, does more than just draft polite petitions: their crews board RIBs and ships to patrol day and night in areas of ecological conflict:
- Operation Dolphin Bycatch: Active monitoring in the Bay of Biscay to document and stop the accidental capture of thousands of dolphins that are killed every winter in the nets of industrial trawlers.
- Operation Nyamba in Mayotte: Nighttime patrols on Indian Ocean beaches to protect green sea turtles from poachers.
- Removal of ghost fishing gear: Recovery of abandoned nets drifting in the open sea that continue to kill fish, birds, and marine mammals for decades.
«If the oceans die, we die. Supporting Sea Shepherd means supporting those who physically stand between industrial predators and the planet's last remaining marine resources.»

Canopée Forêts Vivantes: Guardians of France’s Primary Forests
If the sea is the Earth’s blue lung, forests are its green sanctuary. In metropolitan France, under the guise of «energy transition» and intensive forestry operations, centuries-old hardwood forests are being clear-cut by 30-metric-ton tracked machines and replaced with monocultures of softwoods that are sterile and vulnerable to wildfires.
The NGO Canopy is waging a fierce battle to put an end to the scandal of clear-cutting in France:
- Field Investigations and Whistleblowers: Visual documentation of environmental disasters in the Morvan, the Millevaches Plateau, and the Haut-Languedoc Natural Park.
- Legislative advocacy: A campaign to enshrine in law strict regulations on clear-cutting and to promote mixed forestry with continuous cover.
- Protecting biodiversity: Preservation of living soils, mycorrhizal fungi, and forest wetlands, which are essential for regulating the water cycle.
How does our redistribution work?
- Automatic: No forms to check, no additional cost to the buyer. 1% of your order is deducted directly from Kanten's revenue.
- Fair: 50% of the annual fundraising total is donated to Sea Shepherd France, and 50% to Canopée Forêts Vivantes.
- Transparent: Bank transfer certificates and NGO activity reports are published annually on our website.
Mindful Dressing: When Aesthetics Meet Ethics
